German electronic warfare unit deployed in Lithuania

The German army has deployed a special electronic warfare unit in Lithuania, near the border with Belarus, Report informs, citing Euronews.

According to Euronews, German soldiers are monitoring electromagnetic activity in Lithuania. The broadcaster said they intercept signals from radio and radar systems, with the collected data sent to NATO's single coordination center, where it is used by other units of the alliance.

The article said camouflaged positions and mobile systems of German forces are located along Lithuania's state border with Belarus. The area is described as a "glass battlefield," where data is intercepted around the clock, frequencies are monitored and radar system signals are decoded.

According to the report, the German command also uses foot patrols of electronic warfare special forces. The servicemen use 30-kilogram backpack systems to deploy autonomous communication networks in areas without communication infrastructure.
