Czech lawmakers may strip hospitalized president of powers

Lawmakers in the Czech Republic are looking to strip President Miloš Zeman of his powers after his hospitalization left the country in limbo.

Zeman's health condition has been announced that he will not fulfill his duties as head of state.

A procedure has been launched to deprive Zeman of his presidential powers due to his health condition and give those powers to the speaker of the country's parliament.

According to Article 66 of the Czech Constitution, a provision that allows the president to be stripped of their powers if both chambers of parliament decide that the head of state cannot, for some serious reasons, carry out their duties of the office.

The next meeting of the Polish Senate will be held on October 26.
