Cuba's national power grid suffers another complete collapse

Cuba's National Electric Power System (SEN) has once again suffered a total nationwide outage, according to Report.

Cuba's state-owned electric utility said the complete collapse of the national power grid occurred on the evening of August 2 at 10:43 p.m. local time.

A day earlier, the system experienced a partial failure that left several provinces in western and central Cuba without electricity. In July, the SEN suffered three complete nationwide blackouts within an eight-day period.

Cuban authorities attribute the ongoing energy crisis to the longstanding US trade, economic, and financial embargo, as well as tighter US sanctions, including restrictions on fuel supplies.
