Trabzon mayor: Our goal is cities livable for everyone

Our common goal as local governance should be building cities that are human-centered, disaster-resilient, that strengthen social justice, and where everyone can live, Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Metin Genc said at the World Assembly of Local and Regional Governments held within the framework of the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) taking place in Baku, Report informs.

He emphasized that there are numerous nuances related to these issues:

"First, developing a common urban and urbanization policy for the right to housing; second, being in a cooperative environment for climate-based cities; third, promoting a local governance concept that strengthens social justice and equal opportunities; and fourth, building disaster-resilient and sustainable cities should be the main task."

The mayor noted that building a just world and cities is only possible through shared ideas and solidarity.

Genc thanked Azerbaijan at the end of his speech for the high-level organization of the event.
