Passenger transportation surges by over 18% in Azerbaijan

In January–November 2023, freight and passenger transportation in Azerbaijan increased by 4.9% and 18.1%, respectively, compared to the same period last year, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.
According to the Committee, 206.9 million tons of cargo were transported during 11 months, 57.7% of which was transported by road, 30.1% by pipeline, 8.1% by railway, 4.% by sea, and 0.1% by air.
The volume of cargo transported by vehicles in the non-state sector increased by 4.6%, and the specific weight of this sector in the total volume of transported cargo was 77.9%.
Transport companies served 1,732 million passengers during the reporting period: 88% of passengers were transported by car, 11.4% by metro, and the rest by other types of transport.
