At least 14 soldiers were killed in an attack by armed militants in southeastern Niger, in the Lake Chad area, Report informs, citing ActuNiger.
According to the information, a group of militants attacked army positions in the Diffa region, but the assault was repelled. While pursuing the retreating attackers, a government forces unit was ambushed.
Several militants were killed during the fighting, with their exact number being determined.
According to the outlet, the attack was carried out by members of the Boko Haram radical group operating in the Lake Chad area.
