KOBIA official: Urban planning is more than just building structures

Today, urban planning is not only about constructing buildings but also about creating comfortable, efficient, and sustainable spaces for people to live in, Rufat Atakishiyev, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBIA) of Azerbaijan, said during the Business Assembly at the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Report informs.

He noted that new urban projects in Azerbaijan already reflect green and smart approaches:

"For example, in Aghali village, energy‑saving systems, smart management solutions, digital services, and modern planning methods are applied together. At KOBIA, we believe that stronger cooperation between government institutions, local businesses, investors, and international partners is essential for building more sustainable cities and stronger regional economies. If we want greener and more balanced urban planning, small and medium enterprises must be an integral and indispensable part of the solution from the very beginning, as they are already active in every sector."
