Serbia and Azerbaijan are utilizing the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR, also known as the Middle Corridor) within the framework of excellent political and economic relations, Serbia"s Minister of Internal and External Trade, Jagoda Lazarević, told journalists on the sidelines of the First Azerbaijan International Investment Forum (AIIF-2025), as quoted by Report.
"The partnership between Azerbaijan and Serbia, especially within the Middle Corridor, is world's second in terms of accelerating performance. Serbia has long-standing excellent political relations, and our economic cooperation follows these political ties. It is highly diversified, and we are taking advantage of this amazing opportunity-a shared transport route," she said.
The minister noted that since both countries have actively participated in the "Belt and Road" initiative, there has been a need for excellent routes connecting Asia and the Far East with Europe. This provides Serbia with an additional opportunity to cooperate via the Middle Corridor, which is particularly interesting because the entire flow of Asian goods through Azerbaijan goes to Europe, where Serbia is located.
"This is another way to connect our countries, beyond our excellent political and economic relations," Lazarević added.
