Azerbaijan postpones production of Jeep

Production of Jeep SUVs in Azerbaijan will begin next year, Emin Akhundov, Chairman of the Board of Azermash OJSC, told Report.
Akhundov said he could not disclose the names of the companies yet: "Due to the existing problems, pandemics, it is difficult to talk about the volume of production of Jeep because we are planning one issue, but in reality, it is different."
The production of Jeeps in the country was planned to begin in March 2021. The cars will be produced in Neftchala Industrial District.
Azermash OJSC was established on August 6, 2016, in Azerbaijan for the organization of car production. First, the Khazar Automobile Plant, jointly founded by Azermash OJSC and Iran Khodro, was built in the Neftchala Industrial District. The annual production capacity of the Azerbaijani-Iranian joint venture is 10,000 cars. Iran Khodro has a 25% stake in the company. The plant, built based on modern technologies, equipment, and mechanisms, produces automobiles such as Runna, Samand, Soren, Dena, Peugeot-206, Peugeot-207, Renault-Tondar, Renault-Pickup.
At present, eight enterprises operate in Neftchala Industrial District.
