September 27 is not only Remembrance Day, but also the date marking the end of the decades-long Armenian occupation of Karabakh, the restoration of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity, and the opening of a new chapter in the history of the South Caucasus on the path to peace and stability, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Shahin Abdullayev wrote in an article in the Daily Tribune, Report informs.
The Azerbaijani diplomat's article, titled "Azerbaijan's Triumph: From Remembrance to Recontruction and Peace," details how, in the five years since the Great Patriotic War, the country was able to revive the Karabakh region, rebuilding it from its post-war ruins, bringing life back to it, ensuring the return of former internally displaced persons, and ensuring peace and lasting prosperity.
Abdullayev emphasized that, following the end of the war, Azerbaijan immediately began transforming lands previously abandoned during the occupation, turning them into a region with smart cities and villages, modern airports and roads, and resuming agricultural production.
"Azerbaijan is inclined towards transforming the region into an economic and tourism hub with the establishment of new transportation lines, the restoration of historical monuments, and the reconstruction of liberated cities. Azerbaijan has always championed internationalism, stood on the right side of history and the progressive side of humanity, and contributed to peace and development," the author wrote.
"The favorable geographic location of Azerbaijan makes our country to become a strategic hub of regional economic policy. The transit volume of goods through the Middle Corridor is increasing each year. This indicator is expected to ramp up in next years, in particular, with commissioning of the Zangazur corridor," he added.
