Extensive cooperation has been established among entrepreneurs of the Turkic world, Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Birol Akgun, said at the Women's Entrepreneurship Summit 2025, organized by the Azerbaijan HR Institute and the Association for the Development of Women's Entrepreneurship in Azerbaijan, Report informs.
According to Akgun, the participation and role of women in the socio‑political and economic spheres of the Turkic world is increasing:
"Women have always played a major role in the path of development. For example, social projects implemented in Türkiye through the initiatives of Emine Erdogan [First Lady of Türkiye] have consistently supported and set an example for Turkish society. The Zero Waste project, which gained wide support at the UN and has become a global brand, is recognized as a model initiative highlighting the special role of women in this process."
The ambassador also emphasized the contribution of Azerbaijan's First Vice‑President Mehriban Aliyeva to the growing public, political, and business activity of women in the country:
"When I first arrived in Azerbaijan and asked how this beauty was created, the name of First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva was always mentioned. I was told that she has provided great support to urban planning and architectural projects. I have witnessed this myself, including in the work currently being carried out in Karabakh. This shows that we, as Turks, carry within us a strong spirit of initiative."
He stressed that this dynamism is highly significant for the Turkic states to advance into the future with greater confidence:
"For this purpose, we must all work together more actively. At present, Turkic states are acting jointly and strengthening ties. Broad cooperation has also been established among entrepreneurs of the Turkic world, and within this framework, the active role of women must be highlighted."
