Karabakh's reconstruction on Mexican radio

Radio 620, a Mexican news channel with a large audience, aired an interview with Azerbaijani Ambassador Mahammad Talibov on September 27 - Remembrance Day, the 30th anniversary of the restoration of Azerbaijan's independence and November 8 - Victory Day, as well as the reconstruction work carried out by Azerbaijan in Karabakh.

Noting that the Day of Remembrance of Azerbaijan coincides with the 200th anniversary of Mexico's independence, Talibov said that on September 27 last year, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces launched a counter-offensive operation to prevent further provocations by the Armenian Army and ensure the safety of civilians. The 44-day war ended the 30-year Armenian aggression, so September 27 is celebrated as the Day of Remembrance of Azerbaijanis who died for the territorial integrity of their country, and November 8 - as the Victory Day.

Underlining the 30th anniversary of the restoration of Azerbaijan's independence on October 18, the ambassador spoke about the historical, political and spiritual importance of these significant days, adding that these dates are celebrated with special attention in Azerbaijan.

Then, the Azerbaijani envoy noted that mass mining was carried out in the territories of Azerbaijan, which were under the military occupation of Armenia for about 30 years, and the residential infrastructure, as well as the historical and cultural heritage of Azerbaijanis, were destroyed in these lands. The diplomat spoke about the reconstruction and restoration work carried out by Azerbaijan in the liberated territories. In this regard, he said that the primary goal of the Azerbaijani government is to ensure the dignified and safe return of IDPs expelled from these areas 30 years ago, and to this end, it is carrying out intensive demining and construction work in the region.

Answering the question about the conditions for lasting peace in the region, he said Armenia should first put aside its territorial claims and recognize the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, as well as work on the demarcation and delimitation of borders between the two countries, and the development of a peace agreement.

In conclusion, answering a question on the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on Azerbaijan, the ambassador said that the WHO considered Azerbaijan as one of the countries that managed the pandemic optimally, convened a special session of the UN General Assembly on pandemic control, as well as equal access to vaccines. Talibov noted that Azerbaijan has joined leading global initiatives to support the vaccination and has already vaccinated 70% of its population.
