Progress in the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia in the South Caucasus offers new opportunities not only for the region but also for European countries, including Denmark, Report informs, citing an article by Azerbaijani Ambassador to Denmark Zaur Ahmadov published in POV International.
According to the diplomat, stability in the South Caucasus will strengthen the European Union's Eastern Partnership and create additional economic prospects for European nations.
"After decades of conflict and confrontation, peace in the South Caucasus is becoming a reality. This holds significant importance for both Europe and Denmark, which currently holds the EU Presidency," Ahmadov emphasized.
He noted the strategic relevance of launching the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP), which will connect mainland Azerbaijan with the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic through Armenian territory.
"This new transport corridor will be part of the Middle Corridor, linking the Caucasus with Türkiye, Europe, and Eurasia. It will boost trade and create new jobs across the region. Danish shipping giant Maersk is already using this route and is interested in its further development," he added.
According to Ahmadov, TRIPP will greatly enhance Azerbaijan's strategic role in the Middle Corridor.
"TRIPP also opens up new business opportunities for Danish companies. Therefore, achieving peace in the South Caucasus is important for Denmark's current EU presidency and for the upcoming European Political Community summit in Copenhagen this October. Europe"s security, unity, and economic ties are undergoing transformation," the ambassador concluded.
