Platinum surges past $2,800 an ounce for first time

Platinum prices rose above $2,800 per troy ounce for the first time on record, climbing more than 4.5% at the start of the new trading week.
According to data from trading platforms cited by Report, the rally pushed prices to unprecedented levels during Monday"s session.
April platinum futures gained 4.61% from the previous close to $2,867.8 per troy ounce. Prices touched an intraday high of $2,897, marking a new all-time record.
