ICPC president highlights role of students in shaping digital future

The ICPC is not just a competition but a global springboard into the future for students around the world, Bill Poucher, President of the ICPC Foundation, said during the opening ceremony of the 49th ICPC World Finals held in Baku, Report informs.

"Across the globe, ICPC is your springboard. It's for you, your friends, and your neighbors. You are entering an era of opportunity, responsibility, and hope. Build boldly. Think ethically. Create solutions. Solve problems. Live alongside others, rising together. And above all - stay connected not only through the code you write but through the noble shared purpose that brought you here today. You belong to this community. It is an honor for us to be here with you," he said.

Poucher emphasized that the students present in Baku are the driving force of ICPC.

"The spirit of ICPC is passed down through generations of volunteers, participants, and partners. All of this has grown out of a rich history, with more than 500,000 alumni over five decades. Together, you are writing a new chapter of the digital Renaissance - nurturing problem-solvers, building systems to empower them, and shaping a future of prosperity for neighbors and communities that could not thrive without you," he concluded.
