Youth voice vital in tackling climate crisis, says Baku State University rector

Responding to the climate crisis is impossible without the voice of youth, Elchin Babayev, Rector of Baku State University (BSU), said at the opening ceremony of the UN Local Conference of Youth on Climate Change (LCOY Azerbaijan 2025) held at BSU, Report informs.

He noted that the event is not just a local initiative but aims to amplify young people's voices in global climate processes. LCOY is organized annually ahead of the COP conferences and directly contributes to those global summits.

"As Baku State University, we fully understand the importance of this mission. The goal of LCOY-2025 is to enhance Azerbaijani youth"s knowledge on climate change, develop their leadership and analytical skills, and better prepare them for global engagement," Babayev said.
