Iran, Russia discuss nuclear issue and UN sanctions snapback

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said that he successfully discussed the ongoing nuclear crisis and the potential reactivation of UN Security Council sanctions with Russian President Vladimir Putin during their recent meeting, Report informs.

Speaking at a press conference following his visit to China, Pezeshkian noted:

"On September 1, we held nearly four hours of talks with the President of the Russian Federation. We discussed a wide range of issues, including the economic situation, the nuclear issue, and the activation of the snapback mechanism [which refers to the reimposition of UN sanctions on Iran]."

He also added that, on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, he held direct talks with Tajikistan's President Emomali Rahmon and Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
