Azerbaijan's military leadership visits Military Memorial Cemetery

The Chief of Azerbaijan's State Border Service, Colonel General Elchin Guliyev, and the Minister of Defense, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, along with the leadership of these agencies and senior officers, have visited the Military Memorial Cemetery (2nd Alley of Martyrs), Report informs.

Wreaths and flowers were laid at the graves of the martyrs who gave their lives to restore Azerbaijan's territorial integrity.

A minute of silence was observed in memory of the martyrs.

The national anthem of Azerbaijan was then played, accompanied by a military orchestra.

In connection with the fifth anniversary of the 44-day Patriotic War, which ended with Azerbaijan's victory, visiting the 2nd Alley of Martyrs has started, Report informs.

Government and public representatives, relatives of the martyrs, and residents of the capital and regions are visiting the graves of the martyrs and laying wreaths at their graves.

On September 27, 2020, under the leadership of Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, the valiant Azerbaijani Army, in response to Armenia's latest large-scale provocations and attacks on its positions and civilian settlements, launched a counteroffensive along the entire frontline to suppress military provocations and combat activity by the Armenian armed forces and ensure the safety of the civilian population.

The counteroffensive, later dubbed the Iron Fist operation, transitioned into the Patriotic War.
