Baku Continuity Coalition for Urban Climate Action holds panel discussions at COP30

As part of the Azerbaijan COP29 Presidency's "Multisectoral Action Pathways for Sustainable and Healthy Cities" initiative, the panel discussions of the Baku Continuity Coalition for Urban Climate Action were organized on the sidelines of the 30th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Report informs via AZERTAC.
The event, organized with the support of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the UN Habitat, was moderated by Cecilia Kinuthia-Njenga, Director of the Intergovernmental Support and Collective Progress at the UNFCCC.
Opening remarks were made by COP29 Lead Negotiator Yalchin Rafiyev, Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture Anar Guliyev, Executive Director of the UN Habitat Anacláudia Rossbach, Undersecretary of the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment Mohammed Saeed Al-Nuaimi, and Head of International Affairs at the Brazilian Ministry of Cities, Ambassador Antonio da Costa e Silva. The speakers underscored the important role of the Baku Continuity Coalition, established within the framework of COP29 last year, in combating climate change, and discussed the importance of multisectoral cooperation for building sustainable and healthy cities.
In conclusion, COP29 President Mukhtar Babayev expressed gratitude to the participants, and emphasized that considering Azerbaijan will host the 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13), the continuation of the Coalition founded by Azerbaijan will contribute to the global climate agenda not only at future COP events, but also on other major international platforms.
