Azerbaijan resumes coal imports from India

Azerbaijan imported 5,438 tons of coal (anthracite, bituminous and other types) worth $1.1 million in January–March 2026.
According to Report, citing the State Statistics Committee, this is 2.3 times more in volume and 84% higher in value compared to the same period in 2025.
During the reporting period, Azerbaijan imported 4,883 tons of coal from Russia (2.1 times more than a year earlier) worth $933,000 (+65%), 490 tons from Kazakhstan worth $61,200 (no supplies in the previous year), and 28.1 tons from Türkiye (+9 times) worth $27,400 (+3.4 times).
After a break of 2 years and 8 months, Azerbaijan resumed coal imports from India, receiving 35.7 tons worth $29,420.
In 2025, out of 21,709 tons of coal imported to Azerbaijan, 93.7% came from Russia.
