Azerbaijan to expand intensive orchards by 20,000 hectares

Azerbaijan plans to increase the area of intensive orchards by 20,000 hectares over the next five years, alongside an additional 500 hectares of greenhouses, Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov said during a meeting on agricultural issues chaired by President Ilham Aliyev.

According to Report, he said greenhouse development will be implemented under the model of greenhouse agro-parks, while logistics and crop processing will also play an important role.

The minister added that over the next five years, grain silo capacity is expected to increase by 150,000 cubic meters, and cold storage capacity will reach up to 500,000 tons.

In addition, the program includes the development of small family-run winemaking. By 2030, the number of such enterprises in the country is expected to reach 20.
