Oman and Azerbaijan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) based on the principles of "open skies."
According to Report, the announcement was made in a post by Oman"s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on social network X.
Oman and Azerbaijan concluded negotiations on air transport cooperation with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding grounded in the principles of open skies, the statement read.
The signing follows discussions between the civil aviation authorities of both countries, held in Azerbaijan in September 2025.
The "open skies" policy is an international civil aviation practice that removes or relaxes restrictions on flights between countries.
In addition, Oman is signing bilateral agreements with different states regulating flight frequency and granting various "freedoms of the air." Under this framework, airlines from Oman and Azerbaijan will be able to launch routes more freely and potentially boost both passenger and tourism flows in the future.
