Yerevan, Baghdad may be connected by direct flights

During a working visit to New York, Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan and his Iraqi counterpart, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, discussed the possibility of establishing direct flights between Yerevan and Baghdad, Report informs referring to Armenian media.

The opening of a direct flight between the two capitals would be an important factor in strengthening political, economic, and tourism ties.

The two sides also discussed a number of bilateral issues between Armenia and Iraq.

They emphasized the dynamic development of Armenian-Iraqi relations and the need to deepen political dialogue and practical cooperation based on mutual interest.

Furthermore, the presidents discussed regional issues, particularly the importance of ongoing efforts to establish a lasting and sustainable peace in the South Caucasus following the initialing of the peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia on August 8 in Washington.
