Ukraine recalls charge d’Affaires to Russia

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has recalled Chargé d'Affaires Vasili Pokotilo to Russia for consultations, Report informs, citing the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he had received a request from the Foreign Ministry to cut off diplomatic relations with Russia. The president said he would consider the request.
On February 21, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an address to the nation that he recognized the two so-called republics in Ukraine’s Donbas region. He signed a decree in this effect.
Western countries, including Turkiye and Georgia, have condemned Russia's move, saying it violates international law.
