Türkiye marks July 15 as Democracy and National Unity Day, Report informs.
Ten years ago, an attempted military coup by a terrorist group seeking to seize power by force was decisively prevented by the Turkish people under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
As a result, the Turkish people once again defeated reactionary forces and separatism, protecting their national state, legitimate government and the country's integrity.
Democracy and National Unity Day is an official holiday in Türkiye.
Around 9,000 servicemen were involved in the attempted coup, which used 35 aircraft, 37 helicopters, 246 armored vehicles, including 74 tanks, and nearly 4,000 light weapons.
On that day, 150 civilians, police officers and soldiers were martyred in Ankara, 99 in Istanbul and two in Mugla.
The prevention of the coup attempt prepared by Fethullah Gulen and his supporters fully exposed the terrorist organization that had built a network within state institutions in Türkiye over many years.
During the 2016 coup attempt, Azerbaijan stood firmly by Türkiye. From the first moments of the incident, President Ilham Aliyev expressed deep concern and openly voiced support for the Turkish state and the legitimate government of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The brotherly Turkish people have always highly appreciated Azerbaijan's firm position.
