Omuraliev: Freight volume on Middle Corridor to rise 10% in 2026

Freight traffic along the Middle Corridor is expected to increase by 10% in 2026, OTS Secretary-General Kubanychbek Omuraliev said at the meeting of heads of government and vice president of OTS member states in Baku.

"In 2025, freight volume on the Middle Corridor reached 4.7 million tons and is expected to grow by another 10% by 2027. The Baku–Tbilisi–Kars railway has already demonstrated high efficiency in supporting regional transport," he was quoted by Report as saying

He noted that leaders of the member states instructed the introduction of regular uninterrupted trains, the full launch of the Zangazur Corridor, and acceleration of digitalization of transit procedures.

Omuraliev added that key future priorities include developing the Middle Corridor infrastructure, including establishing joint logistics centers and transport companies.

Other initiatives highlighted include forming a special working group for the construction and operation of modern vessels on the Caspian Sea and using the Turkic Investment Fund to finance priority transport and logistics projects.
