Establishing sustainable living environments is among Türkiye's top priorities, Adil Karaismailoğlu, Chair of the Public Works, Reconstruction, Transport, and Tourism Committee of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, stated during a roundtable held within the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Report informs.
Karaismailoğlu highlighted that social housing policy in Türkiye is implemented as a constitutional obligation: "Housing policy is not only about constructing residential units but also about social welfare, safety, and sustainable urban development. That is why housing complexes are planned together with schools, parks, workplaces, and social facilities. Following the earthquakes in Türkiye, extensive reconstruction began in 11 provinces, with hundreds of thousands of residential and commercial buildings being rebuilt. Ensuring safe and sustainable living environments is one of the main priorities for the future development of cities."
