Moscow Street in Kutaisi, Georgia's second-largest city, has been renamed.
Report's Georgian Service informs that now the street is called Heroes of Shindisi Street.
According to the Kutaisi City Council's decision, the first address plate was installed on the street today, on February 25.
Shindisi is a village in the Gori Municipality of Georgia. In August 2008, 17 Georgian service members were killed during heavy fighting in the village.
Since 2017, public activists and oppositionists have also been demanding the renaming of Moscow Avenue in Tbilisi. In this regard, there was even a campaign to collect signatures. However, the avenue was not renamed.
