Media: Pashinyan repeating fatal mistakes of 2020

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is repeating the same mistakes that he made on the eve of the 2020 war and which were fatal for his people, Report informs referring to Kommersant newspaper.

The publication emphasizes that a serious crisis has arisen in Russia’s relations with one of its closest allies, CSTO member Armenia.

“The parties are exchanging mutual accusations. Prime Minister of the Republic Nikol Pashinyan said in an interview with one of the Italian newspapers that entering into a strategic alliance with Moscow was a mistake. His wife is going to Kyiv and meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Yerevan is also providing humanitarian aid to Kyiv for the first time since the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. And, finally, Armenia is conducting military exercises jointly with the US and recalling its representative from the CSTO without sending anyone in his place,” Kommersant lists all the latest events.

At the same time, the newspaper notes that the situation for Baku is more favorable than ever; moreover, the balance of power, as shown by the 44-day war in the fall of 2020, is clearly in favor of Azerbaijan.

It is emphasized that even if Russia wanted to help Armenia, it is deeply bogged down in Ukraine, and the West, which is energy-dependent on Azerbaijan, is far away and cannot influence the state of affairs:

“Being at a dead end, Nikol Pashinyan, apparently, is already thinking about how to explain the impending defeat and possible future concessions to his compatriots.

The prime minister of Armenia is repeating the same mistakes that he made on the eve of the 2020 war and which became fatal for his people.”

The newspaper concludes by stating that Yerevan is not in a position to defiantly challenge the only theoretically possible defender - the Kremlin.
