Georgian president to pardon opposition activist

Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili will pardon opposition leader Giorgi Rurua on April 27, Report's local bureau informs, citing a statement issued by the president.
According to the document, the political parties that signed an agreement with the government to resolve the political crisis will attend the plenary session of the parliament on April 27, and the pardon decree will be signed on the same day.
It should be noted that Rurua is one of the founders of the Georgian opposition TV channel Mtavari Archi. He was arrested in November 2019 for illegal acquisition and possession of a firearm and was sentenced to four years in prison in July last year.
