Former Iranian diplomat Amir Mousavi goes missing in Cairo

Former Iranian diplomat Amir Mousavi has gone missing in Cairo, Egypt, Report informs, citing Azad Iran.

According to Azad Iran, Mousavi entered Egypt using both Iranian and Iraqi passports, with security clearance and an official Egyptian visa. He was questioned upon arrival at Cairo International Airport, after which no further information about his whereabouts has been available.

Commenting on the matter, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei clarified that Mousavi no longer holds an official diplomatic status: "He previously served as Iran's cultural attache. We've heard that he entered Egypt using an Iraqi passport."

Baghaei added that Iran is closely following the situation through the Interests Section in Cairo to protect the rights of its citizens.

Notably, diplomatic relations between Iran and Egypt have not yet been fully restored.
