Finnish envoy: OSCE Minsk Group long been useless structure

The OSCE Minsk Group has long been an inactive and useless structure, Finnish Ambassador to the South Caucasus Kirsti Narinen said in Yerevan on September 15, Report informs referring to Armenian media.

"I think the Minsk Group was a structure that was inactive for quite a long time. It simply existed, but in practice, frankly speaking, it could not be used as a tool for anything," Narinen noted.

According to her, the governments of Armenia and Azerbaijan made a joint decision to dissolve it, and "the OSCE happily supported this appeal."

The diplomat stressed that time is needed for the full reconciliation of the two peoples.

Finland is the current OSCE Chair-in-Office in 2025. On September 1, the OSCE Ministerial Council decided to close the OSCE Minsk process and related structures.
