Air India flight hits severe turbulence, injuring 17

An Air India aircraft operating flight AI379 from Phuket to Delhi encountered severe turbulence, Report informs, citing NDTV.

According to the report, there were 137 passengers on board, including three infants, and eight crew members. Seventeen people, including four crew members, were injured in the incident.

The aircraft landed safely at Delhi airport, after which all passengers and crew disembarked.

Air India said no serious injuries had been recorded. Several passengers and crew members with minor injuries were taken to medical facilities for examination and treatment.

The airline later said five passengers had already been discharged, while the others continued to receive treatment.

India's Ministry of Civil Aviation said the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, DGCA, had launched an investigation into the incident. The aircraft was moved to a hangar, and its flight recorders - the flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder - were removed for detailed examination.
