Dushanbe hosts Water Festival dedicated to UN program

A Water Festival is being held in Tajikistan's capital, Dushanbe, as part of the 4th High-Level International Conference dedicated to the UN International Decade for Action "Water for Sustainable Development" 2018–2028.

Report's Kazakhstan bureau correspondent, who is on assignment in Dushanbe, informs that the festival was organized by the Tajik government at the Navruzgoh cultural and entertainment park.

The main purpose of the event is to raise public awareness of the value of water as an important resource, as well as the importance of glaciers as the main source of clean drinking water.

Special attention was paid to the need to treat water resources with care and preserve them for future generations. The festival also demonstrates Tajikistan's state policy and practical initiatives aimed at promoting the water agenda at the global level.

The festival features an exhibition of folk crafts and decorative-applied arts, dishes of Tajik national cuisine, an exposition of various types of drinking water, a concert program, national costumes and other cultural and entertainment events.
