Azerbaijan, Türkiye discuss alternative regional interconnector projects

Azerbaijan and Türkiye have discussed alternative regional interconnector projects aimed at strengthening energy supply security and delivering renewable energy sources to a wider geography, Report informs.

Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said this in a post on X following a meeting with Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov in Istanbul.

He said the meeting discussed the current state of work under the green electricity transmission and trade project being implemented between Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Bulgaria amid growing electricity demand and changing regional dynamics.

Bayraktar stressed that projects of this kind aim to deliver the renewable energy potential of the Caspian basin and the Caucasus to Europe via Türkiye, while also turning Türkiye into one of the main centers of regional electricity trade and energy supply security.
