Progress has been made in the US-Iran talks in Switzerland on the release of frozen Iranian assets and the sale of oil, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said, Report informs via Tasnim.
He noted that Iran did not continue the four-party meeting due to the publication of threatening statements.
"The Iranian delegation's approach is that we should compel the other side to fulfill its commitments," Baghaei emphasized. "Significant progress has been made on issuing the necessary permits for oil sales and the release of Iranian assets. A decision has been made to establish a mechanism for the safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, which is of great importance."
According to the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, the negotiating delegation's work has concluded for now, but technical groups will continue their work on June 22.
He stated that Qatar and Pakistan will issue a statement regarding the talks.
Iran and the United States signed a memorandum remotely on the night of June 18, which seeks to end the military conflict that began on February 28.
The parties met for talks in Burgenstock, Switzerland, but the Iranian delegation soon left the premises in protest at US President Donald Trump's threats to strike Iran. Al Hadath TV later clarified that discussions between the parties continued through intermediaries.
Axios later noted that all parties "apparently" were satisfied with the progress of the talks.
