SOCAR applies new technologies to reduce methane emissions

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) is applying new technologies to reduce methane emissions, Hikmat Abdullayev, Deputy Vice President of SOCAR, said during a panel discussion at the 31st International Exhibition "Caspian Oil and Gas" held at the Baku Expo Center.

Report quotes him as saying one of SOCAR"s main areas of activity is the application of advanced technologies available on the market.

"An important stage in reducing methane emissions is improving the quality of emissions data. For this purpose, measurements are carried out, research is conducted, and artificial intelligence tools are used. After the process of measurement and data verification, targeted measures are taken to reduce methane emissions."

Abdullayev noted that reducing methane emissions is currently one of the company"s main priorities.

"The application of new technologies in this field allows for more efficient management of emissions and minimizes environmental impact," he said.
