Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is holding intensive talks with the country's senior military leadership, Report informs, citing Zelenskyy's social media posts.
The Ukrainian president met twice on July 19 and 20 with Deputy Chief of the General Staff Volodymyr Horbatiuk.
He also held meetings with Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapatyi, Commander of the 3rd Army Corps of the Eastern Operational Command of the Ukrainian Ground Forces Andrii Biletskyi, and Commander of the Air Assault Forces of Ukraine Oleh Apostol.
Ukrainian media note that Zelenskyy's meetings are taking place amid a conflict between Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi and former Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, which has led to a series of protests in the country.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in turn, denied reports that Syrskyi had been dismissed from his post.
"Information circulated in the media space, particularly on social networks and in some media outlets, about the alleged dismissal of General Oleksandr Syrskyi as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is not true," the General Staff said.
The General Staff recalled that the dismissal of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Chief of the General Staff is carried out exclusively by decree of the president of Ukraine.
Earlier, the Financial Times, citing sources, said President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was allegedly considering dismissing the army chief.
