Washington preparing for full-scale war with Iran

The United States stands on the brink of returning to a full-scale war with Iran following the deaths of US service members in Jordan and Iraq, according to The Washington Post, citing sources, Report informs.

One US official familiar with White House discussions said Washington is considering an expansion of its military operation against Iran.

The publication notes that the Pentagon is boosting its combat aircraft presence in the Middle East. However, further expansion of the operation could be complicated by dwindling stockpiles of air defense systems and long-range munitions, as well as limited capacity to deploy additional troops and aircraft due to combat losses. One source stated that the US lacks sufficient resources to safely continue operations.

The update comes after US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the launch of a new wave of strikes across Iranian territory.

In turn, Iran warned that it would shift to offensive actions and enter a "phase of complete destruction" if American attacks persist. Majid Mousavi, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Force, declared that strikes against the adversary will continue until calm is restored to the country's southern coast and the Strait of Hormuz.
