US: Russia not preparing to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine

The United States sees no signs that Russia is preparing to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine and has no intention of putting its nuclear forces on high alert, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said, Report informs via RIA Novosti.
The US does not see any indication that Russia is preparing to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine, Jean-Pierre said, adding that the United States, for its part, sees no reason to adjust the readiness of its nuclear forces.
Earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia is ready to use nuclear weapons to “protect the sovereignty and independence of the country.”
