The Foreign Minister of Kuwait, Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a meeting in Washington.
According to Report, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the sides discussed the development of bilateral partnership as well as the situation surrounding Iran.
The statement noted that both sides condemned recent Iranian attacks on the territory of the emirate. "Kuwait reserves the right to take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity," the ministry said.
Rubio and Al-Sabah also discussed strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries in the political, defense, and investment spheres. They emphasized the importance of coordination between the United States and Kuwait to ensure regional security and stability.
Following the meeting, the US Secretary of State reaffirmed Washington's commitment to the security of Kuwait and all its Gulf partners, adding that the two countries share a common vision of regional stability and an open and free Strait of Hormuz.
As a result of Iranian drone attacks on Kuwait Airport on June 3, one person was killed and 63 were injured. However, Iran later denied carrying out the strike on the airport, stating that the damage was caused by a missile from the US Patriot air defense system hitting the airport.
