The US Air Force has awarded Lockheed Martin a $25.998 million contract under the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program to support Ukraine in the development and operation of F-16 fighter jets, Report informs.
According to a Pentagon statement, the agreement covers the development of specialized technical orders tailored to Ukraine's Fighting Falcon fighter fleet.
Work under the contract will be performed in Fort Worth, Texas, and is scheduled for completion by May 30, 2029.
The project is being managed by the F-16 FMS Contracting Office at the US Air Force Life Cycle Management Center at Hill Air Force Base, Utah.
The contract represents the long-term support of the United States and its allies for Ukraine. The program includes pilot and maintenance training, spare parts supply, and ensuring interoperability with NATO.
Funding for the project is provided by the Federal Migration Service (FMS) as part of the Building Partner Capacity Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative.
The Pentagon statement emphasized that this contract is part of a broader effort by the United States and its allies to build partner capacity in Ukraine and is consistent with commitments to provide Kyiv with advanced capabilities to defend its airspace.
