Ukrainian officer: Russia is using banned chemical substances

Russia is using dangerous chemical substances against the Ukrainian military, Artem Vlasiuk, head of the Biological and Chemical Protection Department of Ukraine's Armed Forces, told Report.

Vlasiuk stated that the substances being used are prohibited under Article 1, Paragraph 5 of the Chemical Weapons Convention, which bans the use of such agents in warfare.

"Materials regarding these violations have already been submitted in several formats to the newly established International Military Tribunal. The organization has documented four such reports. It has been confirmed that Russia has used tear gas grenades against Ukrainian troops," Vlasiuk said.

He also noted that since the start of the full-scale war, around 11,000 instances of toxic chemical agent use by Russian forces have been recorded, resulting in nearly 3,000 cases of exposure and injury.
