Ukraine MoD: Russia may attack Europe in coming years

Russia is preparing the most extensive rearmament program since the 80s and may attack Europe by 2030, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry Kyrylo Budanov said in an interview on Apostrophe TV, Report informs.

The intelligence chief noted that although there is currently no such threat to European countries, the forecast is related to Russia's plans and desires.

"They are planning and will prepare," said Kyrylo Budanov.

He added that Europe is aware of such a threat and how they will respond to this will be seen over time.

"A large-scale weapons development program is now being prepared. This is essentially a rearmament of the Russian Federation in the period up to 2037. The peak tempo there is until 2030. This is the most extensive program since the 80s. It is currently calculated at about 1.2 trillion US dollars strictly for rearmament. This is not the budget of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, these are funds for modernization and rearmament programs. These are serious programs and serious funds," he stated.
