UK expands sanctions against Russia adding 11 new ones

The United Kingdom has expanded its sanctions list against Russia, adding 11 new entries, according to Report, citing the British government"s press service.

The new sanctions target individuals and organizations involved in the forced deportation, indoctrination, and militarization of Ukrainian children, as well as efforts to erase Ukrainian cultural identity.

"The UK is imposing sanctions on those responsible for the forced deportation, indoctrination, militarization of Ukrainian children, and attempts to erase their cultural heritage," the statement reads.

The new package includes eight individuals and three state-affiliated organizations, mainly connected to Russian youth and educational initiatives.

Among the sanctioned entities are the Akhmat Kadyrov Foundation and its president, Aymani Kadyrova - mother of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov. Others include Valery Mayorov, head of the Center for Adolescent Programs, and Anastasia Akkuratova, deputy director of the Department of State Policy at Russia"s Ministry of Education.

According to the UK government, intelligence reports show that Russia is pursuing a long-standing policy of "Russification" in temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories, aiming to eliminate Ukrainian culture, identity, and statehood. The statement cites UN reports indicating that Russia has imposed its national curriculum in schools within these areas and introduced training that prepares children for future service in the Russian military.

Also sanctioned are the organizations Volunteers of Victory and the Movement of the First, as well as Leila Fazleeva, Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan; Zamid Chalaev, commander of the Chechen Republic"s special police regiment; Rinat Sadykov, Tatarstan"s Minister for Youth Affairs; and individuals Natalia Tishchenko and Alexander Gurov.
