Two cases of infection with omicron variant confirmed in Latvia

The first two cases of infection with the omicron variant have been officially confirmed in Latvia, Report informs citing TASS.
The National Microbiology Reference Laboratory at Riga East University Hospital has confirmed the first two cases of the omicron strain. Three more samples are currently being sequenced, and another has recently arrived.
On December 6, the E. Gulbja laboratory reported that the first two cases of infection with the omicron strain of coronavirus were registered in the republic. The samples were handed over on December 4 by people who arrived at Riga International Airport from a major international event in Halmstad (Sweden) on an AirBaltic Copenhagen-Riga flight.
