Trump: Toyota's moving from Mexico to US - consequence of import tariffs

Toyota is moving from Mexico to Texas following the imposition of US import tariffs, US President Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social, Report informs.

"Toyota is moving from Mexico to the United States (Texas!). A really big deal. Tariffs at work!" Trump wrote.

Earlier, Japan's Toyota announced that its North American division would invest $3.6 billion in expanding its Toyota Texas production facility in San Antonio.

Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) will build a second assembly line at the plant, doubling its space by 2.5 million square feet (233,000 square meters) by 2030. The line will produce the midsize Tacoma pickup truck.

In approximately four years, the company will transfer production of these vehicles from its plant in Baja California, Mexico, to the expanded Texas site. Toyota declined to disclose further plans for the plant, according to The Wall Street Journal.
