Trump to attend upcoming NATO summit in Ankara

US President Donald Trump intends to take part in the NATO summit scheduled for early July in Ankara, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said in an interview with Bloomberg.

According to Report, he said Trump confirmed his plans during a phone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

"President Erdogan spoke with Trump several times by phone last month, and during each call the US leader reaffirmed his intention to attend the summit," Fidan said.

He also noted that the United States remains committed to the North Atlantic Alliance despite political rhetoric.

The NATO summit is scheduled to take place in Ankara on July 7–8.
