Trump says US may aid Gulf allies backing Iran war

President Donald Trump told CNBC that the United States could provide financial assistance to Gulf countries that support Washington in the war with Iran, Report informs.

He said Washington could offer financial support to Gulf states that have acted as reliable allies during the confrontation with Iran, adding that a currency swap arrangement with the United Arab Emirates was being considered.

Trump described the UAE as a strong ally, noting that "these are unusual times."

He also acknowledged that such support may not be universally welcomed within the United States, given the high level of wealth in the region's countries.

Speaking about Saudi Arabia, Trump said Riyadh was not currently seeking anything but remains an important ally of Washington.
