Afghanistan: Taliban kill nine police officers in checkpoint assault

Nine police officers have been killed, while two others were injured, when Taliban fighters attacked on a checkpoint in Afghanistan's Badakhshan province, Report informs, citing RIA Novosti.
It was not immediately clear who carried out the attack.
Earlier, a bomb blast near the northern city of Herat has killed at least two police officers and injured three others.
Following the explosion, the Taliban fighters attacked, and shooting continued for several hours between police officers and the Armed Forces.
